My Mission

My Mission

When I first heard the breast cancer diagnosis, it was as if the entire Earth had stopped spinning on its axis for that split second. My breath was gone. Every thought left my mind. My stomach churned and my chest was filled with fear. It seemed like a death sentence. Suddenly, all the things I wanted to do with my life seemed far from reach.

Yet, once the dust had settled, I realized there was YOU – beautiful, strong YOU! We’ve never met, but you and I are now sisters in a sorority we never asked to join. Right now there are 2.5 MILLION of us breast cancer survivors in America. The American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in 8 women will come down with breast cancer, but only 1 in 36 will die from it.  I say together let’s find the best combined path to FIGHT this disease and live long, healthy lives!

My Personal Mission:

To build a resource and community for those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and know there must be a way to influence the outcome by combining traditional medical procedures and holistic/alternative methods for a complete, total body approach to healing, surviving, and thriving after the diagnosis.

My Lofty Goals:

  1. Create this site to share my story and help those who seek a “better way” after their diagnosis, to narrow  down the vast, contradictory information on the Internet and bring in “experts” to lessen the overwhelm for the best outcome.
  2. Create some kind of “comfort” basket with exercise DVDs, meditation CD, book, herbal tea, cancer fighting recipes, non-toxic beauty products, etc. as a “feel good” gift after the shock of being diagnosed with breast cancer and help them get their power back with good information and activities.
  3. Live Empowerment Retreat where breast cancer “survivors” will gather and get treated to information on how to live healthier, happier and more productive lives as well as to “pamper” ourselves in different and fun ways. This will be a “must attend” yearly event as we get to interact in person.
  4. Long term goal is to assemble a team of chef’s that will make the right nutritious foods for 2 months or so when diagnosis is given and getting them through the first few months. This food would be prepared & separated into portions, fresh, cancer fighting and nutritious for the fight ahead.  Nutrition is so important in fighting disease and I am finding it frustrating to know what to eat, what the ingredients are and cooking it. If I can take that stress away for those who are serious about changing their lives after diagnosis then I will. My hope is that each women involved in this program starts off with a class on the importance of nutrition for the rest of our lives after being diagnosed. I would like the meals to come with the recipes and at the end of the 2 months another class would be given on how you can prepare it yourself. This will allow you to be taken care of during the hardest part after being diagnosed and then move you to  independence after you’ve seen the portions, the final product, etc.

These are my hopes and aspirations for helping YOU get through your journey and what I find frustrating in mine.  I am determined to make a difference in your life and hear the successes you’re getting with the integrated path.  I want us all to live healthier, vibrant and productive lives.
