Mastectomy – The Fear, Emotions, Acceptance and Outcome from Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is such an emotional roller coaster and then the day comes…

Mastectomy Day

I will take you through the fear, emotions, acceptance and outcome from my mastectomy in hopes to decrease your anxiety if you are faced with the same path.

More Than Just a Mastectomy

In this video I will walk you through the pre mastectomy surgeries and procedures such as a “Nipple Delay” (in prep for a nipple sparing and skin-sparing mastectomy) and Lymph Mapping, then dooms day…the mastectomy itself and starting the reconstruction process.

The More You Know…

Come along as I take you to the prep and procedures of my mastectomy, what to expect, how to get through it, the follow up outcome and recovery. (Don’t worry, you’re not in the operating room with me.) 😉

We Will Get Through It

This was no easy journey and a sad day, but necessary. My hope is to help you get through this difficult time and know that we will both get to the other side successfully!

Just one more step to healing, surviving and thriving after our breast cancer diagnosis.

  1. WOW! (trying to type this through my tears)
You’re strength and courage are amazing, but what is most beautiful is your commitment to helping others. There are some unbelievably raw and powerful moments in this video when I can just FEEL the fear and anxiety you are experiencing. I will remember and draw from those images the rest of my life. Undoubtedly, we will all face these experiences in our own lifetime, either with our own health, or those that are closest to us, and these videos will always be in my mind.

    Thank you, Sandy.

    1. Thank you so much for your support as always Steve. Your comments help me push through the days when I feel like I don’t think I’ll make a difference and help me get to the next important topic. I am so glad this video will be there for when you need to pull from it. I was concerned about creating it but you have just validated the importance for those going through a mastectomy AND for those just going through hard times.

Again, thank you for your love and support…means the world to me. Now, let’s touch the lives of women who are getting their diagnosis.

      Love,
      Sandy

  2. That’s quite the journey you’ve embarked upon Sandy. I know many, many folks will be helped and inspired by your willingness to be so open throughout this process.

    Stay strong, you’re amazing 🙂

  3. Sandy, I’m so proud of you and your courageous spirit. This will bless many women and I know if people watch the video it would help relieve fear. Great meeting you at the Race for the Cure this morning. I will try to call you,
    Vicki

    1. Hi Vicki,

Thank you so much for checking out my website and I am excited to have you contribute your knowledge and experiences as being an 8 year survivor in a few months, you have a lot to add.

It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday and I can’t wait to receive one of your hats and show our sista’s in breast cancer diagnosis how they look. I’ve called you back and left a message. We’ll talk soon.

      Hugs!

    1. I didn’t mean to Bonnie…but hopefully it told a full story for those women that are behind us and they have a good picture. They will get through…it just may be harder for some than others. I really had it “easier” than some as I didn’t have to take pain meds after I left the hospital after my mastectomy but I have a high pain tolerance and didn’t want to add crap to my body or tax my liver and kidneys any more.

I hope it didn’t bring back the memories for you…if so then know I was hugging you as you watched. 🙂
