Breast Cancer Diagnosis – sharing my journey to inspire and empower women (Video)

The tests are in:

“You’ve got cancer”

That is what I heard about a month ago.

I was devastated! The room went dark, my heart sank and decisions needed to be made, not once but many times as time goes on during this breast cancer journey. So…

I decided to bring my story out to you, my fellow “sisters” and your supporters.

My name is Sandy and I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am going out of my comfort zone, sharing my personal story and what I’m finding along the way to help you, my fellow “sisters” that have heard the same life-changing news. No one (or nothing) takes me down without a fight…if you want to come along, feel free to subscribe, come back, and share with your loved ones who could benefit from this information.

Together we will succeed!

This is no longer just about me.

What do we do from here?

Thank you for your encouragement and you are right in times of turmoil comes strength (for some) and I am mustering all these emotions and “lessons” into a cause, a movement or whatever you want to call it. Thanks for sharing my story and helping others along the way.

    Love you, Steve & Tammy

    1. Steve & Tammy,

What can I say?! Through the years you’ve always been my light…the bright spot of a lot of people’s lives by your talent and compassion.

THANK YOU sooooo much for allowing me to use your “not yet released”, original song “Harmony” as my theme song for my videos and website. It truly adds to the story I’m telling and the emotion that goes with it. You have incorporated both the sorrow and the joy, the sadness and hope in your lyrics and music. I am so blessed to call you my colleague and my friend. Love you both!!

  6. Sandy,
We don’t always know at the time why we face some challenges. Life is a journey for us to learn and contribute. You might be interested in some of the inspirational writings of Mike Dooley. One of my sisters was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. She went through surgery and had one breast removed, did the recommended drug treatment and radiation. She has now been given a clean bill of health and no longer needs to take any treatments.

All the best on your journey through this valley.

    — Roger Due (Another BEST member)

    1. Thank you for sharing the inspirational message site and your sister’s story Roger. It is great to have so much support as I am not alone on trying to help other’s get through this as well as me. Thank you!

  7. Sandy,

The ones who help others with sincerity will always find themselves more blessed than others. Know that the difficulties that we face in life are in accordance to what we can handle personally. And everything that happens to us, happens for a specific divine wisdom.

For that reason, not everyone is tested with the same trials and difficulties. You are very brave indeed. And I hope that you will only get stronger because of what you are going through. I wish you all the best and if you ever need anything from me personally, feel free to reach out to me anytime. You have my email as part of this comment.

    Your friend and BEST companion,
    Talha S.

    1. Well said Talha although I wish I was given a hang nail instead. 😉

You are so sweet and I will continue to be in touch and so glad I’m getting to know you.

  8. Hi Sandy,

You have a great attitude for healing and going past this phase of your life. It’s also great to hear that you’re wanting to go Holistic. Conventional therapies are destructive to the body, while Holistic therapies work with and build the body.

Be sure to check out a protocol that includes cesium chloride. I’ve found out about this recently and it seems to be dynamite with knocking out cancers of all kinds. Here is some information that you might find very useful:

    http://www.newswithviews.com/Howenstine/james14.htm

You are in my family’s prayers for a quick recovery.

    Ed

    1. Hi Ed, thanks for sharing the link. I am finding (or maybe I don’t totally think) that there is no one magic bullet…but I may be wrong. I am planning on continuing to add the best of the best within my means to get a favorable result and then share it with other women so they don’t have to reach the same frustration and overwhelm I’ve hit.

Stay tuned to see where it ends up. 🙂

  9. What a beautiful, inspiring video. You touched me deeply with your compassion and sincerity. Thank you Sandy. I look forward to “our” journey together.

    Hugs from afar,

    Linda

    1. Linda, my sista….we are on the same path, at the same time. I haven’t heard from you in a week or so. Email me and let me now how you’re doing. I’m going to ask my plastic surgeon on Monday if he thinks I can do the Susan G Koman walk in Garden of the Gods in Sept. If he says it should be fine then we need to meet up.

Stay strong! I’m here for ya.

    1. Bonnie,

You my friend are an inspiration and are so beautiful. I can’t wait to see you next week. I’ll give a teaser….everyone, the beautiful Bonnie may just show up in a video. What a treat! 🙂

  10. Sandy, you are very courageous and I honor your commitment to yourself and to the rest of us gals. You are an inspiration and you’re not alone. Let me know how I can help you through. Best wishes, and sending you all the healing prayers I have.

    Kathy Ritchie

    1. Thank you Kathy…please keep spreading the word about the site and Facebook page so we can touch more lives.

I hope life is treating you great these days. 🙂

  11. Hi Sandy: You are doing a very brave thing. As a two-time breast cancer survivior, I can say it is not a smooth journey. There will be ups and downs but with the proper support of doctors, social workers, family and friends, you will get through this journey. Going to various support groups saved me many times. Meditation, exercise, Chinese exercise, etc. kept me moving. My hat is off to you for posting the trip that you are embarking on. Best wishes and stay strong.

  12. Hi Sandy, I applaud you for exploring combining holistic with western medicine. I have fibromyalgia with headaches and use alternative treatments as much as possible. I’ve found meditation, yoga, and acupuncture to be helpful in quieting the mind and helping the soul. Sending positive and healing thoughts. Gretchen – friend of Andrea Kalli

    1. Thank you Gretchen, yes those are all good things to add to anyone’s life regardless of illness or disease to help ward that off. Thank you for joining me here. 🙂

  13. Very inspirational Sandy. Takes a lot of courage to put something so personal out there for the world to see. With that kind of strength & such a great attitude, I have faith that you’ll get through this & help lots of others find the strength to do the same.

    another BEST friend,
    Greg

    1. Thank you for your support Greg. Please pass this site along to anyone you know who is touched by this disease. Let’s help as many women as we can. See ya in BEST

  14. Hey Sandy, I applaud you.

We only met just recently but right from moment you introduced yourself, your warmth, sincerity and infections smile made it feel like we were old friends. What you are doing here, sharing your story, is so very brave and inspiring …I’m just in awe of you and your strength.

    BIG HUGS

    John

    1. John, big hugs back to ya!! I knew when you guys came down my aisle that we’d hit it off, you are just as warm and authentic…it was meant to be. 🙂

Your support means so much and I can’t wait to see what we will collaborate with in the near future. I hope to see you soon.

  15. Hi Sandy,

I’m so proud of you for doing this even though you are so out of your comfort zone. While I don’t know what it is like to be diagnosed I do know what it is like to have a family member that is, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you journey through this.

Bravo, for sharing what you are learning and experiencing and encouraging others along the way. And, thank you for allowing us the privilege to go on the journey with you.

    ~Marta

    1. Thank you Marta. I know you have faced the tragedy of losing loved ones touched by cancer. Thank you for your prayers and I would love your help on spreading the word.

      Come back for more videos.

  16. Sandy, welcome to the club that nobody wants to belong to! I’m adding you to my huge list of prayer warriors and wil be personally praying for you daily. It’s hard to beleive now but this very scary event will make you stronger and and ultimately live life in a much more meaningful way. I would love to connect with you next week. Big virtual hug coming your way. Jim

    1. Thanks for your reply Jim. I didn’t realize you were already in the “club” and you are correct, I don’t want to belong but will make the best of it. Let’s connect. You have too many FB friends so we can’t do so there. You should have my contact info.

      Big hugs back to ya!

  17. Dear Sandy,

I think what you are doing is so courageous, and I hope your message reaches not only those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, but also those who have loved ones dealing with it as well. Getting a perspective of what it really means is something that is impossible until it happens to you, so thank you for opening yourself so completely. I am thinking of you often through this difficult time, and although our lives crossed paths only over a short time, your strength and courage is felt every day.

    Love Brad

    1. Hi Brad,

Thank you for stopping by and I am so blessed to have met you too. Thank you for sharing this site and my journey as you said, there are so many who need help through this, let’s reach them together. I hope to see you soon! Hugs!

  18. This site is much more than I imagined considering how quickly you put it together. You have done a fantastic job in launching. We have suffered our share of losses from this heartless disease, now it’s time to put one in the win column. Clearly you are passionate enough about it to be an inspiration to others (and me too!). I’ll continue to keep you in my prayers and know that your support structure extends to Florida too. Go get em!

Good luck and I’m sure you’ll keep us posted,

    Steve

    1. Thanks Steve, I’m glad you’re in my corner and helping me spread the word to help others. We will definitely have one in the “win” column…a little battered and bruised but a win regardless. Stay tuned….

  19. Hi sandy
I am very good friends with your brother Steve and he forwarded this to me. I am so sad to hear this but you have an amazing attitude which is what you need to fight this!! I have a very close friend of mine who went through this 11 years ago and today she is still doing well! She also has an amazing attitude and has fight in her!
I am so glad you are sharing this story with all of us – you are an inspiration to others! Sending healing prayers your way! I too look forward to following your progress and supporting you in any way !! I am living in the Netherlands now for the next four years so if you hear of anything that you need close to me I will be sure to get it to you!! All the best.

    1. Wow Laura, the Netherlands…I hear it’s beautiful. (You’re part of Steve’s “Angels” I hear.)

Thank you for sharing your friend’s story and encouragement. Please come back for more videos ad the journey continues. 🙂

  20. Oh Sandy! You made you me cry. I am so proud of you! I think what you are doing is wonderful and truely brave.

    1. Tina, my forever sister…thank you for your support (and the video made me cry too…so glad I’m not alone in that.) I can’t wait to see you again. Stay strong as well…Love you!

    1. Thank you Andrew, too many family members are getting some form of cancer and we are fighting. Thanks for supporting us all and getting the word out. Hugs!

  21. Sandy I just want to tell you how proud of you I am. How you turned something bad into something good. You are an inspiration to all who have cancers of any type. I lost my father to cancer at the age of 57 and he was my hero and a great Man who was gone way too early.
I know that you will come out of this stronger than you ever have been. Your willingness to fight and change the lives of others is a great thing.
You are a hero in my eyes and I just can’t thank you enough for what your doing here. My girlfriend lost her cousin and best friend to breast cancer before all the new technology came to fruition and she is also inspired by you.
I am friend of Han’s and he sent me here because he is a great person too. I will do everything I can as I get more and more successful to help the breast cancer and other cancer societies.
Thanks again for being the person who you are and being a great inspiration to so many who are fighting for their lives. May you live a long and happy life.
    Morris Murphy

  22. Kudos Sandy, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 years ago. When it was my first day to go to chemo I made a small video just saying to myself “This is my first step to recovery”. I never asked myself ‘Why me’. I accepted the fact that I had breast cancer basically immediately and did not look back. It is quite a journey you have ahead of you and I wish you all the love and support to help you on this adventure.

    1. Congratulations Annelize for being a breast cancer survivor for 8 year so far! Woo hoo and many more. Please come back and keep us updated.

I love your attitude as I agree. Some people told me not to “own” the disease but I tell it like it is. I have breast cancer but doesn’t mean I’ll keep it or allow it to show up again after we cut out what we know. Time to fight!!! I have to stop second guessing my decisions and like you, never look back.

Let’s stay connected and if you haven’t yet like my Facebook page (if you’re on FB) let’s do that. You are an inspiration that our sisters would love to hear from too.

      Hugs,
      Sandy

  23. My prayers to God for you and everyone in this situation. May God keep yousmiling as He heals you from even the water that you drink.

God Bless and give you Strength.

  24. Hi Sandy, just saw the link from Han and I just want to encourage you to fight against cancer and tell you that everything starts inside your mind with your beliefs, so hang in there.
A kiss and a hug from Carlos

    1. Thank you Carlos! You are absolutely right…the mind is a very powerful muscle and even though it’s difficult, we have to harness the positive and powerful mindset.

Hugs back to you! Please come visit again…and Han is awesome, glad you’re on his list too.

      Sandy

  25. Hi Sandy,
Our friend Han Fan sent me over here and I just wanted to say –
You are a very brave lady to share your journey and reach out to help other.
    Healing and blessings to you,
    Robert

    1. Thank you for stopping by Robert. I appreciate you saying hi and please let me know if there’s anything I can ever do for you.

      Hugs,
      Sandy
